Question:
Do I have to use Tellnet Business Broadband or Tellnet Metro to use and access Tellnet services like email and web hosting?

Answer:
No! Tellnet servers are specifically configured to allow access using any type of internet connection from any provider anywhere in the world.

However, Tellnet do of course provide the highest quality broadband Internet connections if you wish to upgrade your current service.

Question:
Can I use my old email address if I choose to upgrade to Tellnet as my ISP?

Answer:
If you have your own Domain, your email address will remain the same if you move your website to us for hosting. If you use a Sub-Domain of another service provider, as long as you don't close the account, you'll get the same service as before.

If you register a new domain name and set up a new address with Tellnet, your old provider can redirect email from your old address to your new address for a couple of months, just like redirecting mail when you move house. However this can be costly. It may be better to simply email / phone/ fax your key Net contacts (may be fewer than you think!) and tell them where you've moved to! In short, it's much easier to just use the new mail address.

Question:
How can our firm take credit card payments on the Internet?

Answer:
Your bank will advise you, but Tellnet can provide a 'secure server' and assist you set up shop quickly and with minimum effort.

Question:
Can we keep all our existing Internet software?

Answer:
You are free to use any familiar Internet software including FTP and email clients of your choice.

Question:
What other technical support does Tellnet provide?

Answer:
Queries can be answered by email if submitted to support@Tellnet.co.uk. We also provide telephone technical support on (0)8700 464 714 during office hours and also provide an online support system.

Question:
Which operating systems does Tellnet offer support on?

Answer:
We offer support for all versions of MicroSoft Windows and Linux.

Question:
Does Tellnet support Perl scripts?

Answer:
Yes. We support Perl scripts.

Question:
Where do I put my CGI scripts?

Answer:
You put your scripts in the root directory or any directoty that you create within the root.

Question:
Does Tellnet support SSI?

Answer:
Yes we do support server side includes.

Question:
Does Tellnet support ASP?

Answer:
No. Tellnet is specifically a Linux based hosting environment, if you require Windows only scripting languages please see our sister company Xhost

Question:
Does Tellnet support SSL?

Answer:
Yes we do support secure socket layer.

Question:
Does Tellnet support Front Page Extensions?

Answer:
Tellnet no longer offer frontpage extensions on our server. As FrontPage was specifically designed with the Windows platform in mind, our sister company Xhost offers them.
