Tellnet can offer quick and easy registration of the generic (or global) Top-Level Domains, most of which are available to anyone regardless of location or business type, but they do have generally intended and perceived applications as follows:

• com:
  Unrestricted registration, but intended for business or commercial use.
• net:
  Unrestricted, but intended for Internet Service Providers and network services.
• org:
  Unrestricted, but intended for non-commercial use.
• biz:
  Intended for business or commercial use.
• info:
  Unrestricted.
• name:
  Restricted to individuals.

UK Domain Names:
.co.uk / .org.uk / .ltd.uk / .plc.uk/ .net.uk / .ac.uk / .sch.uk / .gov.uk

Domain names ending in .co.uk or .org.uk can be registered by anyone, irrespective of a UK presence. Registration of some .uk domain names are subject to naming rules outlined by Nominet UK, the registry for .uk domain names. The rules for registration is briefly summarized below:

• co.uk:
  Registration is open to anyone, anywhere, but is intended for business or commercial use.
• org.uk:
  Registration is open to anyone, anywhere, but is intended for non-commercial use.
• me.uk:
  Registration is open to anyone, anywhere, but is intended for natural persons who have an association with the UK.
• ltd.uk & .plc.uk:
  Registration is, respectively, open solely to UK-registered limited and public limited companies, is limited to one domain name per registered company, and must match the registered company name.
• net.uk:
  Registration is only open to UK-based Internet Service Providers.
• sch.uk:
  Registration is only open to schools in the United Kingdom
• ac.uk:
  Registration is only open to UK academic institutions, learned societies, and research institutions.
• gov.uk:
  Registration is limited to UK government departments and agencies, local government bodies (including town and parish councils), and other associated and non-departmental public sector organisations.
